06.6 Conclusions & Future Work

We were able to:

• Design, simulate and build a vegetable cutter machine.

• The system is currently able to successfully cut in slices a banana. Current sharpening of the blade does not allow to cut vegetables like carrots.

Things that can be improved:

• The use of a sharper blade needs to be considered in order to cut more vegetables.

• Improved sanitizing of the system to make it food safe approved.

• More stable conveyor belt.

Future development directions:

• Include sensors and computer vision algorithms to detect when to start and stop the cut of the vegetable. These same algorithms can be used to prevent cutting fingers.
