Yamaha DM7 - How to use DM7 Editor

The computer to the immediate right of the DM7 is connected to the console via USB. This means that you can remotely control the DM7 through an application called DM7 Editor. Below is how to utilize this application.

Log into the computer and open the DM7 Application.

You will be prompted to choose “DM7 Compact” or “DM7” - choose DM7 and press start.

Log into the computer and open the DM7 Application.

You will be prompted to choose “DM7 Compact” or “DM7” - choose DM7 and press start.

You will be greeted with a screen similar to the display on the actual DM7, but you will not be able to control it yet.

The “Online” button on the top right of the screen is greyed out, meaning you’re not connected to the console. Press this button to go online.

Press the “Direct IP” button to enter the IP address for the console.

If it’s not already filled in, fill in the IP address for the board shown in the picture.

This action does require an administrator password that only the Tech Team is aware of. Contact a proctor or a member of the tech team to accomplish this step. This security is needed to make sure not just anyone can get into the console with admin control.

Ensure that the “Data Sync” arrow is pointed towards the DM7 Editor, NOT the DM7, as shown in the picture. If the other way is selected, it will apply the settings of the computer to the board which is not ideal. You want the computer to receive the settings of the board, not the other way around.

Once everything is filled in and selected, press “Connect”

If done correctly, you will get a “Connected” notification at the bottom of the screen and you will see the “Online” button lit up. You should now have full functionality of the board accessible from the computer.
