Mold Prep Testing
Spackle is applied to the entire smooth face of a Styrofoam block
The light coat sample will have the spackle squeegeed to the surface leaving a thin layer. The surface of the Styrofoam can be slightly seen through the spackle.
The heavy coat had the spackle was squeegeed only to the point that the surface was even, but the surface of the styrofoam is not visible through the spackle.
Light Coat(right after spackle)
Heavy Coat(right after spackle)
The surfaces of each sample were sanded at 240 then 400 grit until as smooth as possible
Light Coat(after sanding)
Heavy Coat(after sanding)
Duratc styroshield primer was applied until you can’t see the foam beneath it anymore. Was applied in the same way to both blocks(heavy and light coatings).
Light Coat(after primer)
Heavy Coat(after primer)
