DPN

Ladd

  • 18 months' work so far

  • Pushed something out of Dspace, replicated to Stanford and Mich, but haven't gone the other way yet

  • Users would push content in through a "first node" as a point of control, specialization

  • TDL will be a "first node", UT is a "replicating node"

  • Will cost, won't be cheap

  • 1st board mtg tomorrow (incl our CIO, and head of TACC - we have 2!)

  • Last year was proof of concept, this year they'll pilot content

  • Issues

    • Encryption

    • business model

    • succession rights

  • DPN has a director, that's it. Maybe about to hire second person, maybe a project mgr. also, maybe asst to director

  • First membership mtg end of this month, after CNI
