Locate your tripods and the case that contains the cameras

Set the tripods up where you plan on using them for the production.

Level the head on the tripod.

Locate the cameras in the camera case.

Check to make sure the cameras were stored with the mounting baseplates still attached.

The cameras will be stored in the case with the tripod mounting plate still attached.

To mount the camera to the tripod head, angle the camera to the side of the mount that is away from the orange release button.

Then simply lower the camera onto the mount. You will hear a “click” when the camera has successfully been mounted to the tripod head.

Secure the camera by turning the locking knob until it is tight. This will lock down the camera to the tripod head securely.

Do not miss this step!

The lenses are stored in the large camera case with their lens hood on backwards.

Turn the small knob to loosen the hood from the lens, remove the hood, flip it around to reattach it to the lens.

Match the red dot on the hood to the red dot on the lens and turn the hood 1/4 turn to the left.

Turn the lens hood until the red dot and the red circle match up.

Turn the knob to tighten the hood onto the lens.

Attach the lens to the camera

Match the red dot on the camera mount and the red dot on the lens.

Turn the lens clockwise (about 1/4 turn) until the lens locks into place.

The lens is now securely mounted on the camera.

Check that the settings on the lens are set to default before making custom adjustments.

The camera snakes have VIDEO, RETURN, INTERCOM, 12v PWR, and two snakes have PROMPT (Green) for using a teleprompter.

The two snakes with PROMPT (for teleprompter) are Snake A (35-foot) and Snake B (50-foot).

Connections to the camera

The BLACK cable is the video cable and it is plugged into SDI OUT, labeled VIDEO.

The BLUE cable is the return cable and it is plugged into SDI IN labeled RETURN.

The 12v PWR cable is plugged into the 4-pin connection labeled 12v PWR to power the camera.

The two snakes with PROMPT for teleprompter has a GREEN connection and it will be plugged into the teleprompter.

Secure the cable snake to the tripod

To keep the snake from hanging and creating strain on the connections to the camera, attach the snake to the tripod using the velcro strap that is attached to the tripod.

Wrap the velcro strap in-between the two zip ties on the snake.

Wrap the velcro strap around the leg of the tripod and pull it tight to secure the snake so it does not create strain on the connections to the camera.

Flip the viewfinder hood up from the bottom. It will popup and snap into place.

Attach Zoom control to the right handle of the tripod.

Clamp the mounting arm around the right tripod arm and tighten it down

The camera operator can mount the focus control in a position that feels comfortable for them.

Attach the Focus control to the left handle of the tripod.

Clamp the mounting arm around the left tripod arm and tighten it down.

The camera operator can mount the focus and zoom controllers in a position that feels comfortable for them to operate,

Plug in the USB-C cables to both the Focus Demand control and the Zoom handle.

The camera has two USB-C ports (USB-C A and USB-C B) located on the left side of the camera just above the XLR audio inputs.

Either one of these USB-C ports can used for attaching one of the controllers.

The other controller will be connected to the LOOP connection on the first controller

USB-C ( A or B ) on camera → CAM port on first unit, LOOP → CAM (on other unit)

The USB-C cable from the camera is plugged into the CAM port on the unit.

The other USB-C cable is attached from LOOP and goes to the CAM port on the other unit.

Find the Intercom Packs and Headphones for each camera station.

Mount the Intercom Pack to the tripod.

From the camera snake locate the cable labeled Intercom and plug it into the Intercom Pack.

Connect the Headphones to the other port on the Intercom Pack and set the headphones on the camera station.

To remove the camera from the tripod, loosen the knob to release the camera from the tripod head.

After loosening the knob, push up on the orange release button and gently lift the camera off the mounting bracket.

So, you’ve connected the power from the camera snake and confirmed that it is connected to the engineering rack, but the camera isn’t powering on and you are very sad.

First, double check that the camera power switch is ON.

Yes, it seems obvious, but it’s worth checking.

If the camera is cabled up and the switch is on then the next thing to check is if the other cameras power on.

Is this a system wide power failure or localized to just one camera.

If ALL cameras are NOT powering on then go back to the Engineer and let them know so that they can check that power is properly connected.

If it is only ONE camera that is not powering on then you can talk to the Engineer, OR you can try removing the camera from its tripod and taking it to one of the other camera positions and try connecting it to a known working power supply.

If the camera STILL won’t power on from a know working power cable then there is a good chance that the camera is dead. Let the Engineer and Producer know as soon as possible.
