How to Shoot & Offline Media Using The Blackmagic Camera App (iPhone Workflow)

There are two ways to shoot using the Blackmagic Camera App. Either Vertically or Horizontally.

Shooting Horizontally crops your phone's camera sensor, so be away you are not using the full camera sensor in this mode.

Notice the difference between the two images.

We recommend holding it Vertically, but holding it Horizontally does offer more stabilization.

First we need to change our recording settings.

Your settings should match what we recommend.

(Unless told specifically you can change these settings in class).

Resolution: 1080p or HD

Video Codec: H.264 (Never change this)

Video Color Space: Rec.709

Frame Rate: 23.98

First you will click on the Settings tab on the bottom right of your screen.

Then click on the Codec tab.

Then select the H.264 codec, make sure it is NOT HEVC (H.264)

Then go back to your Record settings page and select Resolution.

Then select HD. That is your 1080p Resolution.

Then go back to your Record settings page and select Color Space.

Then select Rec.709 if it's not already selected.

Then select the Media tab on the left side of the screen.

Then click on Save Clips To.

Then select the In-App and Photo Library option.

If it you do not select this, you will not actually save your video and you will LOSE all of your work.

Then click on the Camera tab on the top right of your screen.

Then select the FPS settings on the top left of your screen.

The scroll using the Wheel that has appeared on the right of the screen to 23.98 FPS.

Then select the White Balace (WB) setting on the top middle of your screen.

Click on the setting that appeared on the top of the scroll wheel that says Auto.

This is turning off auto White Balace.

Now we will show you how to change which Lens your camera is using.

You will want to click on the top left setting called Lens.

Then select the lens of your choice.

That is is good luck using this app!
