UT Libraries and Book Loans

Elizabeth

• Elizabeth makes a request to request books from UT libraries and lean away from Austin Public Library

• PCL has a collection of 60,000 children's books. They can ship it to PMA for pick up. You can get a “proxy card” to designate someone to pick up your books

• Can check off “Physical library”, “PCL”, and “Youth Collection”. Click “pick up” @ PMA

• Use JSTOR or EBSCO for accessing Young Children or scientific articles (might not be current years)

• Use interlibrary loan if UT doesn’t have a book or article

• These services are use it or lose it, and with a change in leadership in the UT library system, we want to prove to the university we are utilizing these systems

• Retreat at life science library? PCL Library tour?

• April 18th Science of the Lab School talk 1:15-2:15 (block out 1-2:30) at the Norman Hackerman Building

  • Please have classrooms staged by 2:15pm for guests

  • Meet for 9-10am on April 18th for scheduling talk

• Amy is still nailing down summer staffing

• Amy is sending out picnic flyer this weekend (last Thursday of school 5:30-7:30pm)

• We only have 2 practicum applicants for Fall 2025 - talk to your team and tell interested students to send Amy a professional resume and cover letter (could be email text) telling Amy about yourself and what you are interested in applying for.

• We can’t move kids to their summer placements until their portfolios are completed. Please try to finish children’s portfolios by your last contract date (May 15th) or at the very least the end of May

• Elizabeth would like to share her year-long portfolio building process and how she uses her portfolios for conferences

  • Elizabeth to do training for portfolios in the Fall

• Jeff Lockman (Live Oak, Magnolia, and Pecan) and Katherine Tillman (Redbud and Crape Myrtle) will be conducting their studies during the last 3 weeks of schools
