Notes
Discussion of possibly missing scans, but this was found to be not the case
Discussion of Nitin's idea for standardizing file names: <series>_<sub-series>_<item-group>_<item>.<ext>
Will use "0" for item group as a placeholder if there is no register, volume, or folder (e.g, photos)
Preservation metadata: location of physical items (and date)
Creation of file mapping for renaming THEN creation of derivatives
Creation of directory structure for renamed files
Conceptual models for Mellon
Importance of documentation (e.g., historical organization of records)
Challenges of working with archival materials at an item level
Differences & sameness: differences between paper (heterogeneous) and digital archives (homogenized) --> how far aggregate decisions go down the collection (e.g., rights statements)
When personal ethics supersedes legal boundaries
Examination of digitized negatives and slides (JPGs) --> May not be master copy quality as they are JPGs; may need to be re-scanned at some point but is lower priority than materials that have never been scanned
