• Carson: discusses research on metadata schema

  • We are dealing with files and representations (e.g., genres such as registers) rather than bitstreams)

  • Unmil: question about original order --> order as imposed is both descriptive and preservation metadata

  • May want a specific container just for compliance (copyright, HIPAA, etc.)

  • PREMIS: has rights statements (rights, license, statute, rights granted, other)

• Consideration of existing medical archives' metadata schema for rights

• Examination of agent, object, and event identifier types

  • Object identifier types: our internal file naming

  • Event identifier types: external controlled vocabulary

• Descriptive metadata profile (root, sourceResource)

• Unmil: for next week, asks Carson to create a profile and apply vocabulary to a set of CSH documents (e.g, board meeting minutes) to see if it works out

  • Modified normalization script that he presented at last week's meeting

  • Unmil wants Python documentation standards for methods

• Lorrie: presents what she found for photo subseries 6_3 --> renumbering is needed and consideration of how to label files that represent front/back of photos (e.g., a/b, v/r)

• Maybe Lorrie and Unmil should spend time looking at the variations in how files are numbered (e.g., newsletters)
