Si wafers

  • Supplier: Nova wafers

  • Contact: Melanie Lightfoot, MLightfoot@novawafers.com

  • You can buy them with the procard (not technically considered a chemical), but watch out for the purchase limit if you order more than one box

  • Consider whether SSP or DSP (may impact FTIR measurements)

  • Consider conductivity (high conductivity for STM or possibly ARPES measurements, intrinsic or very low conductivity absolutely necessary for electrical measurements)

  • Growths on thicker wafers showed very poor RHEED - I think they may not heat as thoroughly, resulting in a lower effective temperature for deox

  • Orientation: <111> (Bi(001) lattice matches with Si(111) with a coincidence alignment, so that every 6th Bi atom aligns with every 7th Si atom.)

SiC wafers

  • Donated by Vincent Gambin at Northrop Grumman in Feb 2017 (phone number 312-812-6251)

  • In foil packet in Si wafer desiccator

  • I haven't tried growing on them

  • 3 wafer pieces. Two are 4H and one is 6H. All are semi-insulating. Si-face is face down in box. Wafers should be cleaned in solvent and BOE before growth.
