UT mobile
  • attempting to determine inefficiencies with WURFL
    • reviewed system call traces and PHP logs
    • isolate the problem via JMeter tests:
      • with 5, 8 and 10 concurrent threads using a non-NFS file system caching strategy – these tests showed that NFS file locking is not the problem
      • with 10 concurrent threads NOT using WURFL – aside from a few pages with RSS feeds, this test showed that WURFL is indeed the cause of extremely slow page loads
    • I am in the process of creating an x86 environment to test the m4mobile site with the Alternative PHP Cache (APC) library
