Last updated by: SDM, June 2016
This page describes how the virtual machine (VM) that is used to run the lase group server.
Who to contact for help?
Our IT managers from UT are Rick Gomez (rick.gomez@austin.utexas.edu) and his boss Gabe Hernadez (gabriel.hernandez@mail.utexas.edu). Rick led the transition to the VM and is the best resource for managing it. The VM is housed by the UT-VM team.
How to access?
IP address
The IP address for the VM:
146.6.15.211ssh into the VM using your preferred ssh program. The password for the server is: galliumnitride. If for some reason the IP for the old/decommissioned server is needed, it is 129.116.234.36
The IP address points to the http://lase.mer.utexas.edu . If the location or IP of the VM changes, the new IP must be changed to point at http://lase.mer.utexas.edu , otherwise the website, wiki, share drive, and growth database will not work correctly!
Port
The VM uses the following port:
12322This is also the same port as the old/decomissioned server
Backup frequency
The VM is backed up by the UT-VM team once a week.
