What is the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test - Revised (PPVT-R)?

The PPVT-R refers to the Spanish translation of 16 selected items from the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test - Revised (PPVT-R). It is an assessment tool designed to measure receptive vocabulary, which evaluates a person's ability to understand spoken words by identifying corresponding images.

La PPVT-R se refiere a la traducción al español de 16 ítems seleccionados de la Prueba de Vocabulario en Imágenes Peabody - Revisada (PPVT-R). Es una herramienta de evaluación diseñada para medir el vocabulario receptivo, evaluando la capacidad de una persona para comprender palabras habladas al identificar las imágenes correspondientes.

When to Administer

The PPVT-R is administered at the following timepoints in both languages for bilingual R01 patients and in L1 (native language) for Monolinguals:

• Pre-treatment

• 12 month follow-up

How to Administer

• Format: Present the stimuli in the PowerPoint (four pictures per page) and orient the participant to the numbers below each image. Say the word that corresponds to each slide. Ask the participant to indicate the number of the picture that corresponds to the word you say. You may repeat the word if the participant requests it or needs it.

To-Do List

• Answer the questions on Redcap (i.e Was the written description of the image collected?)
• Make any necessary comments regarding the participant’s performance on this task (i.e Cultural and educational Factors, record signs of frustration, anxiety, or disengagement during the task, observe if the patient frequently requests repetition)

Cómo Administrar

• Presenta los estímulos en el PowerPoint (cuatro imágenes por página) y orienta al participante hacia los números debajo de cada imagen. Di la palabra que corresponde a cada diapositiva. Pide al participante que indique el número de la imagen que corresponde a la palabra que dices. Puedes repetir la palabra si el participante lo solicita o lo necesita.
