What is the Phonology Task Omission?

Phonology Task Omission tests patients' ability to remove a sound / phoneme in a given word. The assessment consists of 12 items. 12 is the maximum score. For each word, the patient’s goal is to remove the first sound of each word. Administration of the task takes approximately 10 minutes.

¿Qué es Phonology Task Omission?

Esta prueba examina la capacidad del paciente para eliminar un sonido / fonema de una palabra. La prueba consta de 12 ítems. 12 es la puntuación máxima. Para cada palabra, el objetivo del paciente es eliminar el primer sonido de cada palabra. La administración de la tarea dura aproximadamente 10 minutos.

When to Administer

This task is administered in pre-treatment or in Observation 1.

Structure of the Test

To start, the clinician provides instructions:
I'm going to tell you words so that you can remove the first letter. So, if I say "sea" you should answer "-ea". If I say "vase" you should answer.....? Very well - “-ase”. And if I say "batch".....? Exactly - "-atch".

  • If they understood, “Good, okay, let’s start with the test”.

  • If they did not understand, continue with more examples.

    The assessment consists of 12 items.

Scoring:

  • Mark each response as correct or incorrect. Type any errors in the text box on the right side or leave comments regarding the patient’s responses. The highest score is 12.

Estructura de la Prueba

Primero, dar instrucciones:
Le voy a decir palabras para que Vd. les quites la primera letra. Así, si yo digo "mar" Vd. debe de responder "ar". Si digo "vaso" Vd. debes de responder.....? muy bien "aso" Y si digo "lote".....? exacto "ote".

  • Si lo ha entendido: “Bien, pues si lo ha entendido vamos a comenzar con la prueba.”

  • Si no lo ha entendido se continúa con más ejemplos.

    La prueba consta de 12 ítems.

Puntuación:

  • Califique cada respuesta como correcta o incorrecta. Escriba cualquier error en el cuadro de texto o deje comentarios sobre las respuestas del paciente. 12 es la puntuación máxima.

How to Administer

ENGLISH:

  • Refer to the ‘Phonology Task Omission’ test on RedCap. After providing instructions, say each item aloud and score the patient’s responses.

  2. Provide instructions.

  3. Say each item in a natural way and record the patient’s responses.

  4. Score each response.
