The BAT is….

The Bilingual Aphasia Test (BAT) was designed to assess each of the languages of a bilingual or multilingual individual with aphasia in an equivalent way. The various versions of the BAT are thus not mere translations of each other, but culturally and linguistically equivalent tests. The criteria of cross-language equivalence vary with each task. In this project we administer three subtests of the BAT PART C: Word Recognition, Word Translations, Sentence Translation.

Bilingual Aphasia Test (BAT) es una prueba de 11 preguntas que evalúa cinco áreas de la función cognitiva: orientación, registro, atención y cálculo, recuerdo y lenguaje. La puntuación máxima es de 30. Una puntuación de 23 o menos indica deterioro cognitivo. El MMSE solo toma de 5 a 10 minutos para administrarse, por lo que es práctico utilizarlo de manera repetida y rutinaria.

December 2023.

During a R01 Planning meeting on , the following was documented to verify all clinicians administer the MMSE the same way:

  • 1. Administer items in order.  
  • 2. Administer 3 word repetition, set timer to 3 minutes and do calculation and spelling items. To fill out the remaining 3 minutes you can administer polygons and fill it out with conversation.
  • Do not administer any other items or tasks in between. 

August 2024.

During an SLP Meeting, the following consensus was taken:

  • We decided not to count the patient's responses in a language other than the one administered in the test as correct. If the patient's results are very close to the thresholds required to be considered a candidate for the R01, the decision is made as a group whether to include them as a participant.

Durante una reunión de planificación del R01 el , se documentó lo siguiente para asegurar que todos los clínicos administren el MMSE de la misma manera:

  • 1. Administre los ítems en orden.
  • 2. Comience con la repetición de 3 palabras, configure un temporizador para 3 minutos y luego proceda con los ítems de cálculo y ortografía. Use los 3 minutos restantes para administrar los polígonos y mantener una conversación.
  • No incluya ninguna otra tarea o ítem entre medio.

Durante una reunión de SLP, se tomó el siguiente consenso:

  • Decidimos no contar las respuestas del paciente en un idioma diferente al que se utilizó para administrar la prueba como correctas. Si los resultados del paciente están muy cerca de los umbrales requeridos para el R01, la decisión de incluirlos como participantes se tomará en grupo.
